Prayer is Powerful

The great thing about prayer is that it is open for anyone to do, it is free and you can do it anywhere – you can’t say that about many things! Simply put, prayer is communicating with God.

It is not as some have been quoted as saying “a crutch for the weak,” rather it is something very powerful, because when we draw close to God in this way we are privileged to see him act.

Some of our greatest leaders have spoken about how powerful they have found prayer in their lives and the strength they have been given to achieve great things. Our late Queen among them, but also leaders such as Abraham Lincoln who memorably said” I have been driven many times to my knees, by the overwhelming conviction that I have had nowhere else to go.”

The power of prayer should not be underestimated. James 5:16-18 declares, "…The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

God's help through the power of prayer is available for all kinds of requests and issues. In Philippians we read "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (4:6-7)

God definitely listens and does answer our prayers but not always in the way we imagine. His answers are not always yes, but are always in our best interests. When we pray passionately and purposefully, according to His will, God responds powerfully! Prayer places us in contact with Almighty God, and we should expect almighty results. - In His timing not ours; we need patience.

Find some time to engage God in prayer today. Experience the power for yourself.
