Don't Worry

Why do we worry, because worry has never solved a problem? But what it does do is to cause stress, despair, anxiety, and much more.

Human beings seemed to be inclined to worry. We lie awake at night worrying about little things such as the work that need to be done the next day, as well as understandably about the big things such as a planned operation. I know people who when they have nothing to worry about, worry that they might have forgotten something they ought to be worrying about!

We read in Philippians “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus”.*4:6-7)

This tells us to replace worry with prayer. Instead of worrying, we are to tell God our needs, remember all He has done for us in the past, and thank Him for His faithfulness.

Replacing worry in this way is much more positive than simply singing along with Bob Marley “Don't worry about a thing, 'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.” Because we know in our heart of hearts that some things are really not simply going to be alright

Whatever the situation, when we pray we can experience peace so great that it is beyond our understanding! This peace can replace the worry, even if the situation that caused used us to worry is still there. Next time you find worry beginning to overwhelm you try praying. If we put this into practice often enough, instead of worrying, we will find ourselves enveloped in His peace.
