A Fresh Start Every Day

Wouldn’t it be great if we could wake up every morning and have a completely clean slate – simply just start again, with no repercussions from the past day; no unfinished work hanging over us, everybody in harmony in our family once again.

That is perhaps a bit of a dream, but it is possible to have a fresh start every day.

Jesus’ act on the cross for our forgiveness means that God gives us the freedom to begin again, no matter how many times we mess up and need His forgiveness and grace. He never stops showing us patience and forgiveness.

We need to take each new day as His gift that offers us the opportunity to start afresh. To consciously make a choice to change our thinking and actions, and not to let the past control what we do in this new day.

It doesn’t just happen, it does require us to actively stop making poor choices and look at changing our behaviour. For Christians, this involves letting God renew and transform our thinking, which will change our actions, too. Otherwise, we’re likely to fall back into old patterns that will disappoint us.

Just because you did something you regret yesterday doesn’t mean that you have continue today, feeling you are stuck with those failures. God gives all who trust in him the opportunity to make a fresh start today and every day.

It really is as simple as asking God to direct each and every day of our life, knowing that we can rely on His faithfulness to help us.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” Lamentations 3:22-23
